Microbiology

At Well Care Diagnostic Center, our Microbiology Laboratory specializes in identifying the organisms responsible for infections and determining the most effective treatment options. Accurate and timely diagnosis of infections is essential to prevent complications and guide effective therapy—particularly in an age of increasing antimicrobial resistance.

Our comprehensive microbiology testing services cover:

  • Bacterial cultures (urine, sputum, wound swabs, blood, pus, etc.)
  • Fungal cultures (skin, nail, sputum)
  • Mycobacterial testing (AFB smear & culture for tuberculosis)
  • Parasitology (stool ova & parasite examination)
  • Gram staining and special stains
  • Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (AST)
  • Rapid diagnostic tests (malaria, dengue, typhoid, COVID-19, etc.)

We use automated culture systems, standardized incubation techniques, and digital microscopy to ensure precision in isolation, identification, and susceptibility profiling of pathogens. Each test is carried out by trained microbiologists and lab technologists following biosafety and quality control standards.

Our lab plays a vital role in diagnosing urinary tract infections, respiratory infections (like pneumonia or bronchitis), skin and soft tissue infections, gastrointestinal infections, and systemic infections like septicemia. We also support screening and diagnosis for hospital-acquired infections and multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs).

All reports include antibiotic sensitivity results, helping clinicians choose targeted therapies and avoid misuse of broad-spectrum antibiotics. This supports better patient care and contributes to broader infection control and antimicrobial stewardship efforts.

At Well Care Diagnostic Center, we’re committed to delivering timely, accurate, and actionable microbiology results to combat infections and improve patient health.
